Our History
"Interactive, multimedia pickup truck"
He began his first company in Phoenix, Arizona in the very early 90's. As a company of one, he took his own photography, produced his own graphics in Photoshop and Illustrator and began interactive programming using a program called "IBM Story Board Live". Lee served frequently as a BETA tester of this new program as improved versions were developed. Also as a company of one, he called on companies and visited them to show them the work he was developing. In those days, Lee hauled around a computer and a full size NEC monitor in large cases in the bed of his pickup truck, as laptop computers did not come until much later.
"Do not drink water for 8 hours before your surgery."
As he gained more experience, Lee courted such clients as US West, Samaritan Hospital and the Public Dental Administration of Maricopa county. As he moved to a more robust interactive authoring tool, Macromedia's Authorware, Lee produced a prototype Kiosk for US West designed for mall shoppers to purchase additional phone services. Lee also produced a touch screen patient pre-op education program for Samaritan Hospital which included custom artwork, designed and produced by a local 2D artist, video clips, narration in English and Spanish and sprinkled throughout with enjoyable quizes designed to test how well the patient was learning.
Later Lee moved from Arizona to Northern California where he joined two independent interactive firms. In one firm he was the entire department, again designing and producing interactive solutions primarily for CDROM which had become an option. Later he joined a multimedia firm as the Production Manager supervising a staff of 15 developers video editors and 3D artists.
"On my own again (sung to Willie Nelson's song of a similar name)"
After this rewarding time working for other firms, once again Lee longed for the days when he was an entreprenurial business owner, so he ventured out on his own again, forming The Burbank Company in 1991 with his partner Chuck Neal. In these 8 years, the company has grown and expanded and changed its services to keep current with the ever changing technology. A sample list of the company's clients includes:
| Acountmate Software Best Buy Biosense Webster/Division of Johnson and Johnson Cordevalle Golf Club Cruise West Desert Cancer Foundation E-Group Benefits Fantasy Springs Casino Freightliner |
KUTP Television |
And many advertising agencies and design firms.
The Burbank Company has always operated on the premise that relationships with our clients and partners is the key to its success. Lee has alway believed that he needed to consistently exceed his clients' expectations and believed that all members of the Burbank Company team can best work to that end by understanding all the facets of a project from its history and its goals to how each piece of a project must fit with the others.
"Communication with our team and the effective management of client expections are key. We always want our clients to be surprised and delighted with what we have produced for them. That is always our goal, to exceed their expections."
